Simms Headwaters Waist Pack Review
March 21, 2009Streamtread Sole Update
March 15, 2009As the weather has been changing here in Southwest Montana and we seem to finally see the light to better weather ahead, many of the users of the Simms Streamtread Soled boots have been out and had a good chance to use them. The reviews have been outstanding so far from the many customers to whom we have sold them. In addition, I myself have had a better chance to get out and use them on our local rivers like the Madison and Yellowstone.
Two things I have determined since my last review. (more…)

Simms Headwaters Chest Pack Review
February 18, 2009
A great new pack from Simms Fishing Products in their 2009 line is the Simms Headwaters Chest Pack. If you are looking for the pack to take to the Gallatin or your local river for an afternoon of fishing the Simms Headwaters Chest Pack is worth considering.
Chestpacks in general don’t hold as much gear as a waist or fanny pack might but their advantages are that they are smaller and are less obstructive on your person while fishing and casting. (more…)
Simms Headwaters Day Pack Review

- Simms Headwaters Day Pack Front View

Simms looks as though they put a lot of thought into the design and construction of this pack trying to make it clean and functional which I feel is of the upmost importance when designing a backpack for fishing. Simms Streamtread Sole Review
December 21, 2008To better understand the new Streamtread sole that Simms developed with the help of Vibram, I thought we should discuss it in a little bit more detail. One thing to be sure of is that this is not simply an Aquastealth knock-off.

- Simms Streamtread sole
The Streamtread sole is a completely different animal. The Aquastealth sole, which has been the only rubber wading sole until this year, tried to accomplish traction on wet rocks with the use of a “sticky” rubber compound. While it worked very well on wet rocks, it did not work well on wet slimy rocks like we have here in the West. When wading with Aquastealth, you were often times not sure of which rock you would stick to or not and many times this created a feeling of uncertainty when in the stream. The addition of studs to an Aquastealth sole was a welcome relief and sometimes completely necessary to fish some of our local rivers like the Gallatin and Upper Madison. (more…)
