Spring on the Yellowstone River
Spring Fishing Forecast
As I sit here trying to come up with an accurate prediction about how the fishing and water conditions over the next couple of months will play out in our part of Southwest Montana, I know how the weatherman feels. No matter what I write, I am going to be wrong on some part of my predictions. Well it won’t be the last time, here goes.

Streamtread Sole Update
March 15, 2009 by theriversedgeflyshopAs the weather has been changing here in Southwest Montana and we seem to finally see the light to better weather ahead, many of the users of the Simms Streamtread Soled boots have been out and had a good chance to use them. The reviews have been outstanding so far from the many customers to whom we have sold them. In addition, I myself have had a better chance to get out and use them on our local rivers like the Madison and Yellowstone.
Two things I have determined since my last review. Read the rest of this entry »

Simms Headwaters Chest Pack Review
February 18, 2009 by theriversedgeflyshop
A great new pack from Simms Fishing Products in their 2009 line is the Simms Headwaters Chest Pack. If you are looking for the pack to take to the Gallatin or your local river for an afternoon of fishing the Simms Headwaters Chest Pack is worth considering.
Chestpacks in general don’t hold as much gear as a waist or fanny pack might but their advantages are that they are smaller and are less obstructive on your person while fishing and casting. Read the rest of this entry »
Simms Headwaters Day Pack Review
February 4, 2009 by theriversedgeflyshop

- Simms Headwaters Day Pack Front View
Just when we thought there were some pretty nice options to carry your fishing gear to the river and on the streams, along comes Simms to try and make something even better. We just received new for the 2009 season the Simms Headwaters Day Backpacks and at first glance, I am impressed. Simms looks as though they put a lot of thought into the design and construction of this pack trying to make it clean and functional which I feel is of the upmost importance when designing a backpack for fishing. Pesca Maya
January 21, 2009 by theriversedgeflyshopI just got back from my first saltwater fly fishing adventure earlier this month. Me and the rest of the guys at The River’s Edge closed down the fly shop for a week and headed South of the border to fish the world renowned flats of Ascension Bay. We stayed at Pesca Maya Fishing Lodge located about three hours South of Cancun in the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve. From Pesca Maya you have the option of fishing either Ascension Bay (about 30 minutes by boat if the weather permits), or the Boca Paila Lagoons right behind the Lodge. We lucked out while we were down there and had great weather, allowing us the option of fishing Ascension Bay every day. It was mostly sunny with temps in the 80’s and relatively little wind…a welcome change from winter in Montana. Read the rest of this entry »
